Back To Animalympic Show Description

Below is a list of books that are relevant to Atlanta Puppet's Animalympics program. The list is not too long and includes many non-fiction titles found in the juvenile category of most libraries. Check to see if you have these titles in your book catalog service.

When Atlanta Puppet's Animalympics program performs at your library it is a good idea to have as many of the books listed set aside and available for patrons that are inspired by the performance and want to follow-up by immediately checking out titles. The puppeteer will make mention that the books are available during the show if known before the performance.

We have purposely focused on non-fiction titles in the list. The interest in the "Harry Potter" line of books has increased demand for fiction and fantasy titles. While this is certainly encouraging, it should also be noted that non-fiction works provide practice in reading skills that require retention in order to follow the directions and instructions that are often provided in the text or illustrations in the books.

Non-fiction works of an instructional nature also provide the benefits of bringing a family together to work on a project and produce great satisfaction when directions are followed and results are attained. We feel everyone will agree that being able to understand and follow directions is a key factor in every child's development.

The list includes many titles dealing with the care of domestic pets and identification of different animals depicted in the show. There are also titles dealing with character values and communication skills - a central theme in the Animalympic show. Navigation of the list is by scrolling with your cursor.

We are also offering Study Guides and Lesson Plans for your Home School groups! Send us an e-mail and we'll send you the link!
